
The Stevenson Expressway (I-55) is a quick 15 minutes north via LaGrange Road (U.S. Route 45) and was the main thoroughfare through the heart of Orland Park for many years.

However, on November 12, 2007, the construction of Veteran’s Memorial Tollway (I-355) was completed. The new expressway connects the Stevenson (I-55) to I-80 through DuPage, Will and southern Cook Counties and will definitely reduce travel times to suburbs lying in this corridor. According to the Northeast Illinois Planning Commission, the south extension will reduce travel times to suburban job centers by 12 to 14 minutes (20 percent) for an hour-long trip.
This roadway addition will open up new potential for Orland Park as a residential option to many employed in the suburbs of this new extensioned corridor and as a travel destination for those looking for entertainment and activity options.
For air travelers, Chicago’s Midway Airport, with its new terminal increasing passenger services, is a fast 25 minutes away. O’Hare International Airport is an easy 40 minute drive from Orland Park.

Commuters board Metra Southwest Service trains at three stations in the Village for a convenient trip to the Loop. The Main Street Triangle, a planned downtown development at 143rd Street along Southwest Highway and LaGrange Road, includes a new commuter train station and parking for this redeveloped area. The new train timetable will double scheduled stops in Orland Park to 30 per day. Additional trains on the Rock Island line are available at stops in nearby Tinley Park and Mokena. Pace bus service operates four routes in Orland Park, two of which end at the Midway Airport Station, where they connect with CTA Southwest Orange Line trains to downtown Chicago. In addition, Pace provides dial-a-ride service.
