Healthy cooperation between educators, parents, and the community has helped build a strong educational system in Orland Park, one in which students can reach for excellence – and achieve it.
Four elementary school districts serve the Village: 135, 140, 146, and 118. The latter serves a small area at the northern edge of Orland Park. District 146 serves the Village’s eastern sector and District 140 serves the Village’s southern edge. District 135 is the largest district serving the community. In all four districts, the focus is on developing basic skills in reading, mathematics, language arts, science, and social studies. Band, orchestra, and choir programs complement the basic studies.

Orland School District 135 offers a comprehensive educational program to over 6,000 students in preschool through eighth grade at its four primary centers, three intermediate centers and three junior high schools. In Orland School District 135, instruction in the “basics” is supplemented by visual arts, music, health, and physical education.
The district’s computer science curriculum integrates computers as a tool into all academic areas. The junior high program includes instruction in Spanish or German for all students. Intermediate and upper grade students may participate in band, orchestra, and choir and can broaden their experience and pursue individual interests through a variety of activities. Junior high students are offered the opportunity to participate in interscholastic sports and academic competitions as well as many special interest activities.

District 135 students are supported by auxiliary services including healthcare; speech/language assessment and therapy; counseling and psychology services; library-learning centers; lunch programs; and bus transportation. Special education programs and services are available to serve the needs of District 135 children with disabilities from birth to age 15. Additionally, the district offers a program for academically talented students in grades 2-8.
Consolidated High School District 230 serves nearly 8,000 students. Those residing in the portion of Orland Park served by Elementary District 118 attend Amos Alonzo Stagg High School. The majority of students who live in Orland Park attend Orland Elementary School District 135 or Tinley Park Elementary District 146, which feed Carl Sandburg High School. Orland Park students who reside in Kirby Elementary School District 140 attend Victor J. Andrew High School.

District 230 offers more than 140 different courses, including honors and advanced placement, as well as a wide range of co-curricular activities and a full roster of young men and women athletic teams.
Several private and parochial schools offer quality alternatives to public school education. Among the schools are St. Michael Catholic Elementary School, Cardinal Bernardin Elementary School, Christian Hills Elementary School, Chicago Christian High School, Providence Catholic High School, Mt. Assissi Academy, Marist High School, Brother Rice High School and Mother McAuley High School.
