Palos Community Hospital is located only minutes away in Palos Heights. The 436-bed facility has a staff of more than 350 physicians representing 40 medical specialties and subspecialties, including maternity care, pediatric care, orthopedics, oncology, cardiac and intensive care, same-day surgery, and emergency care. Orland Park’s Primary Care Center is a facility of Palos Community Hospital, offering immediate care for minor medical emergencies.

Located in Oak Lawn, Advocate Christ Medical Center, a 662-bed institution, is the Chicago area’s largest and most comprehensive provider of healthcare. It is nationally recognized for its use of innovative technologies and advanced procedures in the treatment of heart disease. Cancer care, pedi atrics, care of high-risk mothers and infants, and women’s health services are other specialties for which Christ Medical Center is noted. Advocate Hope Children’s Hospital, located on the campus of Advocate Christ Medical Center, is a four-story facility with 45 private, inpatient rooms; a 12-bed pediatric intensive care unit; and a seven-bed pediatric surgical heart unit. At the corner of LaGrange Road and Orland Parkway (183rd Street extension) is Advocate Medical Campus Southwest, which provides primary and specialty healthcare, as well as ambulatory surgery.

Many other fine hospitals and medical facilities offering exceptional care in the area include Ingalls in Harvey, the Ingalls Family Care Center in Tinley Park, Little Company of Mary Hospital and Health Care Center in Evergreen Park, St. Francis Hospital in Blue Island, and Silver Cross Hospital in Joliet.

The Midwest Physician Center of Orland Park has expanded its services and is now called the Orland Park Medical Campus, which includes the Midwest Physician Center of Orland Park, Orland Park Surgical Center, and the Midwest Physician Diagnostic Imaging Center (open MRI and PET scan). Primary care services, including family medicine, pediatrics, OB/Gyn and internal medicine, are offered along with several medical specialties such as allergy, medicine and endocrinology, infectious disease, and pulmonary medicine. At more than 30,000 square feet, the Orland Park Medical Campus is the largest facility within the Midwest Physician Group located in Chicago Southland.

Healthcare reform, changing demographics and medical technology have prompted facilities such as Alden of Orland Park and Lexington Health Care of Orland Park, both of which are fully assisted nursing home facilities, to keep pace with market healthcare needs. These facilities offer a continuum of care, from short term, sub-acute care and rehabilitation with discharge to home, to long-term care for chronic disease management.

Brighton Gardens, an assisted living community located in Orland Park, features specialized dementia care, and it provides just the right amount of support and service that balances residents’ desire for independence and their need for assistance.

Smith Crossings’ senior living community has opened in Orland Park on 32 acres in the I-80 Corridor, and it features a number of living options. The $60 million project has 97 units for independent seniors. There are 85 apartments in one building and six other small buildings, each with two units. The main building also has 48 assisted-living units and 29 nursing beds. The facility also includes a 16-unit Alzheimer’s facility. The projects offer residents what is called a continuum of care. The campus has housing for independent seniors and for those who need assistance as well as nursing care. Residents pay an entrance fee, along with a monthly fee. Within the new Orland Park project, seniors there can choose continuing-care housing without moving far away.
