Oswego is proud of its rich cultural identity, providing residents and visitors with year-round activities. Community theatre, outdoor summer concerts and local fairs and festivals are just a few of the ways to relax and have fun. The Oswego Playhouse, directed by Daina
Giesler, is an all-volunteer community theatre. Since its inception in
2002, the Oswego Playhouse has performed a variety of shows such as a
Christmas show, "The Glass Menagerie," and "Suppressed
Desires," a 1920s look on the folly of psychoanalysis. In 2003,
the Playhouse performed "Shakespeare Swings," held in the Village
Green Park on the swing set, and "Love Letters," a dinner theatre
performance. The 2003 season ended with "All Aboard for Christmas,"
an affectionate glimpse into the lives of a family getting ready for the
holidays in the 1950s. Most Oswego Playhouse performances are held at
the Little White School Museum on Park and Jackson Streets. For tickets:

The museums collections contain more than 10,000 photographs, documents, and artifacts related to Oswegos history. Nearby is Lyon Farm and Village on Rt. 71 between Oswego and Yorkville, home to 15 restored historic structures brought from areas throughout the county. The nearby Chapel on the Green, an 1855 church with an 1899 pipe organ, is also open to visitors. To the east is Aurora, which features the 1,888-seat Paramount Arts Center that provides opportunities to see and hear internationally renowned stars. The Paramount, with its original glory fully restored, is a magnificent example of the elaborate movie theaters that flourished in the years before World War II. Another Aurora highlight is the Schingoethe Center for Native Cultures on the campus of Aurora University. The center houses art and historical artifacts of American Indian and Alaska native peoples. Auroras SciTech allows visitors to interact with science and technology on a hands-on basis. Oswego is home to the Fox Bend Golf Course, rated as one of the top twenty public courses in the Chicagoland area. Fox Bend has played host to several tournaments and qualifiers, including the State Amateur qualifying, Illinois Open Championship, and PGA qualifying for the Western Open for starters.
