Message from Plainfield
Welcome to Plainfield, a historic village with a wide variety of residents — some of whom have been here for five generations and some of whom have been here for five days!
The current population is estimated at 36,000, and the 2030 predicted population is 110,000! Where borders were once defined, changes are taking place, and we blend into neighborhoods, jurisdictions and districts. These changes in size, shape and population are going to be ongoing for decades to come!
The focal point of the village is its historic downtown and adjoining historic neighborhoods. The downtown contains buildings dating back to the 1890s! Many of the homes in the nearby neighborhood are themselves historical “classics.”
The Village Officials, Administrator and Staff are located in offices at the Village Hall, 24401 W. Lockport Street, and its strong historic leadership is represented by the Richard A. Rock Amphitheater in Settlers’ Park behind the Village Hall and adjacent to the DuPage River. This historic backdrop is the scene of dynamic growth; of a growing economy; and of a bright, energetic future.
