Princeton’s many tree-shaded city parks and fine recreational facilities are popular leisure-time respites for area residents. The Princeton Park District is enjoyed by young and not-so-young alike, and encompasses a total of seven parks covering approximately 170 acres in and around Princeton.

Alexander Park, on Princeton’s west side, is equipped with a large outdoor swimming pool, tennis courts, children’s playground equipment, restrooms and a picnic shelter.

City-County Park, located north of Princeton, has shady picnic areas, outdoor grills, shelters, ball diamonds and nature trails, and is a family favorite. Another great park is Zearing Park, located in the south end of town.

Sparkling fountains with playing waters highlight the beautiful in-town Darius Miller Park, which also features landscaped rest areas and a large shelter for community use and special events.

Veteran’s Park, across from Princeton’s City Hall on South Main Street, honors those men and women who served in the armed forces of the United States with its beautiful gazebo, walkway and polished stone monument.

The nearby Illinois River and the Hennepin Canal Parkway provide lots of recreational delights for fishing, hunting and boating enthusiasts.
