As its name implies, South Roxana is south of Roxana in the far south section of the River Bend area. It has a population of about 2,000. While the community has its own police department, it relies on the Madison County Fire Protection District for fire protection services.
South Roxana is served by Roxana Community Unit School District 1, which has one elementary school in the village.
The village has two parks. The largest is Dad’s Park, owned by the local Dad’s Club, which sponsors weekly Bingo games in a big park building, and the annual Homecoming celebration.
A Roxana interchange on the new I-255 highway promises to help the village reach its goal of business and light industry development.
