graphicSet in a sea of emerald-green cornfields is a small mid-western town picturesque enough to be the setting for a Hollywood movie. In fact, the 1997 release " A Thousand Acres" was filmed at 17 different locations in and around the town, including key scenes in the charming downtown area. Visitors to our community enjoy the same down-home hospitality and friendly service as the Hollywood stars.

The Rochelle area welcomes visitors throughout the entire year with historic and unique sites and attractions. While in Rochelle, take a drive on the national scenic by-way, Lincoln Highway, which runs through the heart of town. Or stop at the one-of-a-kind Rochelle Railfan Park-where train buffs from all over the world watch from a specially made viewing platform as more than 100 trains a day come through town. A visit to the Flagg Township Historical Society Museum, and the refurbished Standard Oil Filling Station is truly a step back in time, as is the historic Hub Theatre, one of the oldest continually running theatres on the Lincoln Highway. Enjoy indulgent chocolate treats at three local retail stops that are part of the Black-hawk Chocolate Trail-a-tour specially created to satisfy the sweet tooth. Also enjoy the great outdoors on the 3.9-mile bike path, or picnic, hike, or relax in one of our 14 area parks.
