Rochelle’s prime asset is its strategic transportation links, which has led to the nickname "The Hub City." With its location at the intersection of Interstates 39 and 88, State highways 251 and 38, and also the intersection of two major freight rail lines, the Burlington Northern-Santa Fe and the Union Pacific, the city is within one day’s drive from 40% of the U. S. population! A major travel plaza serves truck and passenger traffic on the highways, while a City-owned rail spur enables local industries to take advantage of both rail lines for shipping and receiving.

The city is just 90 minutes west of Chicago and 30 minutes south of Rockford, Illinois’ second-largest city. Other large midwestern cities like Minneapolis, Detroit, St. Louis, and Indianapolis are less than a day’s drive away.

Air service to the Rochelle area is provided by the Municipal Airport, which is equipped with a 4,200 ft. hard-surface runway; instrument landing system; and ground services, including courtesy car for in-town use; for business jets, charter flights, and private aircraft.
