Nowhere is the community’s pride more evident than in the well-tended residential neighborhoods of the town. Driving at a leisurely pace through the tree-lined residential areas, the visitor will notice neatly kept homes in a variety of styles, all mingling in pleasing harmony.

Newer neighborhoods on the city’s outskirts boast of well-planned construction, of homes both large and small, with all of the modern amenities.

The local Historic District on North Seventh St. has beautiful Victorian homes with highly decorative paint treatments and stately old trees. The crown jewel of the District is the historic Holcomb House at the corner of 7th St. and 6th Ave., a magnificent Gilded Age Victorian that is one of three local buildings listed on the National Register of Historic Places.
