Rochelle residents enjoy a number of special events throughout the year. During the summer months, the municipal band performs free outdoor concerts in the park. The community theatre group mounts three major productions each year. The Historical Society hosts several events, including an old-fashioned ice cream social and a classic car show. The first weekend of December heralds the arrival of the holidays with the Old-Fashioned Christmas Weekend, featuring a lighted parade, open house at downtown businesses, and tours of vintage homes. Throughout the year, the community calendar is dotted with festivals, carnivals, craft shows and church bazaars.

The granddaddy of events is the Lincoln Highway Heritage Festival, which celebrates Rochelle’s rich heritage. This family oriented annual event is held the last full weekend in August and hosts activities such as a classic car show, carnival, entertainment, and fly in/drive in hot dog and sweet corn boil. Attendance at this event grows every year and provides a great opportunity to showcase Rochelle and all its wonderful attributes.
