The mission of Community Consolidated School District 15 is “to produce world-class learners by building a connected learning community.” Schools, teachers, administrators and support staff work together to ensure that all District 15 students receive the highest quality of educational opportunities that will not only enable them to meet or exceed state academic standards, but will also prepare them for success in future educational and career endeavors.

Nearly 13,000 kindergarten through eighth grade students attend the district’s 20 schools (15 elementary, four junior highs and one alternative school). Six are in Rolling Meadows: Kimball Hill, Central Road and Willow Bend Elementary Schools; Carl Sandburg and Plum Grove Junior High Schools; and Conyers Learning Academy, the district’s alternative school. Students come from diverse socioeconomic and ethnic/cultural backgrounds—district data shows that more than 70 languages or dialects are spoken in students’ homes.

District 15 teachers average more than 14.2 years of classroom experience, nearly 84 percent hold master’s degrees and 81 teachers currently on staff are certified by the National Board of Professional Teaching Standards—the highest teaching credential available.

In 2003, District 15 became one of only a handful of public school districts nationwide to receive the U.S. Department of Commerce’s Malcolm Baldrige National Quality Award—the nation’s highest honor for quality and performance excellence. Nine of the district’s schools—including Willow Bend, Carl Sandburg and Plum Grove in Rolling Meadows—have been recognized by the U.S. Department of Education as Blue Ribbon Schools of Excellence or No Child Left Behind Blue Ribbon Schools.
