The Round Lake Area is strategically positioned in northeastern Illinois, within the heart of Lake County and bordering on the Chain O’ Lakes.
The area, which stretches across five communities, sits centrally between Chicago and Milwaukee—just 50 minutes between either city.Commuters travel with ease throughout the area via numerous local thoroughfares and highways, including Interstate 94, IL Routes 83 and 12 and U.S. Route 120. Getting around is also made easy through the Pace bus service, as well as the local Metra rail lines. Two stations are found in the Round Lake Area: the Round Lake Metra Station at Route 134 and Cedar Lake Road and the Round Lake Beach Metra Station at 680 E. Mallard Creek Drive.
When it comes to traveling regionally, nationally or internationally, Round Lake Area residents utilize the services of three airports. O’Hare International Airport is located 40 miles from the area, while Milwaukee’s General Mitchell International Airport is approximately 51 miles away. Midway International Airport is reachable within 60 miles.
