Round Lake Parks and Recreation
Located within beautiful natural surroundings, the Round Lake Area is filled with a wealth of recreational opportunities.
The Round Lake Area Park District oversees a number of parks and facilities in the five-village area. Hailing as one of the largest park districts in Lake County, the RLAPD runs a 55,000 square foot Sports Center, equipped with a regulation indoor soccer field, basketball and volleyball courts, as well as an indoor climbing wall; the Fitness Plus Fitness Center; the Prairie Grass Nature Museum, affording patrons nature activities, exhibits, crafts and walks; an Aquatic Center; and just one of several surrounding area golf courses, the Renwood Golf Course, a four-star Chicagoland Golf facility featuring 18 holes for a par of 72.
A new park currently in the works is the Fairfield Sports Complex. Once completed, it will include two lighted softball fields, a youth T-ball field, a soccer/football field, and a family play area and playground. Avon Township hosts the 10.3-acre Avon Baseball Complex in Hainesville and is operated by the Avon Township Youth Baseball League.
The five area Villages share their namesake, Round Lake, with beaches, picnic sites and boat launches to the lake in Round Lake Park, and Round Lake Beach. The Round Lake Area is also in close proximity to the Chain O’ Lakes, offering another option for fishing, boating and water sports.
