Pamper Yourself

Rest, Relaxation & Recreation

By Becky Cline & Jodi Triest

For a more contemporary style of relaxation, salons and spas are abundant in the Schaumburg area. Spend a day of complete pampering and beautification in a truly relaxing environment – with a selection of massages, pedicures, manicures, facials, hair styling and more, how can you go wrong?

Hip Salon is one such place. “Our clients thrive on our energy,” says Vince Otero, Color Director. “We are so excited about doing hair that you can feel it in the air.”

During prom season, Hip Salon works with local high schools to put on fashion shows, where the salon exhibits and donates hairstyles and up-dos to graduating seniors.

Woodfield offers its signature “Man of Style” entertainment package which includes a massage from Aveda salon, special savings at Field of Dreams with a tour of their extensive sports merchandise, and a free sunglasses consultation.

According to Karrie Kramer, co-owner of Hair Haven in Schaumburg, the shop is a “very connected place,” where stylists have a good working relationship with one another and often partner with the other establishments in the strip mall for the betterment of everyone.

“We set up people with things like personal trainers and golf lessons. We try to be a source for the community-at-large, referring our customers to other businesses, and count on other businesses doing the same.”

This type of partnership among businesses is common throughout Schaumburg, and the Schaumburg Business Association contributes to building and maintaining such ties by helping local businesses keep in touch with one another through various events. The SBA also offers special benefits to members and encourages volunteerism and community responsibility.
