The City of Springfield has a growing population of 117,000, with more than 650,000 people living within a 50-mile radius of the community. The climate is pleasant, with distinct seasonal changes, but without extended periods of extreme cold or heat. The location, midway between the Continental Divide and the Atlantic Ocean, is responsible for generally moderate temperatures year-round.
Municipal services include the Springfield Police Department, staffed by over 250 full-time officers, in addition to civilian personnel. The Springfield Fire Department has 12 stations, with more than 200 firefighters. A countywide "911" Emergency Communications System is in place.
One of the most impressive attributes of the area is its low cost of living, which remains at a level less than the national average, providing local residents with proportionately greater disposable income. In recognition of all that the area has to offer, national designations recently awarded to our community include: Among Americas Top 10 Least Expensive Cities; Among Most Affordable Housing in America; Among Americas Top 50 Cities for Quality of Life.
