The City of St. Charles is located in Kane County, approximately 36 miles west of downtown Chicago and two hours south of Milwaukee, Wisconsin.
It is the northernmost town of the area known as the Tri-Cities of the Fox Valley, which also include Batavia and Geneva. All three straddle the beautiful Fox River.
Whether for business or pleasure, you’re never far from convenient transportation by land or air. U.S. Routes 20 and 30 and State Routes 64, 38, 31, and 25 serve commuters coming into and out of St. Charles; Route 64 runs east-west through the center of the city. Interstate highways I-88 and I-90 are easily and quickly accessible from St. Charles. Randall Road and Kirk Road, both north-south county highways, make access to interstates easy.
Once a recreational airfield, the DuPage Airport in West Chicago, contiguous to St. Charles between Routes 38 and 64, is today a thriving corporate airport and the third busiest in Illinois.
O’Hare International Airport in Chicago is a 50-minute drive from St. Charles; Midway Airport is about an hour. The Metra commuter rail station is 10 minutes from the city center with a full schedule of local and express trains taking passengers to and from Chicago’s downtown Loop shopping/business districts and the shores of Lake Michigan.
Train transportation to Chicago and towns to the east of St. Charles is available via the Metra station in nearby Geneva. The city is served by PACE bus service, Spare Wheels, 001 Choice Cab, and dial-a-ride.
