Dear Streeterville Business Owners, Residents and Visitors,
The Streeterville Chamber of Commerce would like to extend a warm welcome to you. We created the 2008 Streeterville Community Guide especially for you. We hope that you use our publication to help you navigate the many exciting resources available to you in Chicago’s premier neighborhood.
Inside, you will find an informative overview of the community as well as important information about our member businesses. You will discover that our Chamber members offer a stunning array of dining, shopping, leisure, entertainment and other business options that make Streeterville the envy of the region. Businesses will experience our guide as a very helpful tool for networking and expanding opportunities for growth. One fact is clear: Streeterville is a great place to live, do business and have fun.
As Streeterville continues to experience dynamic change, a new can-do spirit has infused our community. In the last few years the neighborhood has seen the construction of dozens of new apartment buildings and condominium developments, new parks, a riverfront promenade, an art center, a new museum and many new exciting businesses. Not only are thousands of new residents calling Streeterville home but also institutions like Children’s Memorial Hospital, which is building a world-class facility here and Santiago Calatrava’s Chicago Spire, which when built, will be the tallest building in North America.
As our residential and business base expands, the Streeterville Chamber of Commerce has developed more resources to keep up with the growth and to extend a feeling of community to our new businesses and residents alike. Chamber events are one way of networking with other businesses. The Chamber has also developed a new series called Cross Promotion Network to encourage synergistic businesses to build networks and to promote the neighborhood.
Our first event, for the Hospitality and Leisure industry, was a big success. Over 81 managers attended and have begun to create partnerships with each other, our museums and theaters as well as with representatives from some of the premier cultural events in the downtown area.
Next summer the Chamber hopes to create a new Sunday Streeterville Farmers Market as a way to promote locally grown produce, our local businesses and entertainers. Please join us in our efforts to welcome new residents and businesses into our world-class neighborhood.
For more information on our exciting new initiatives or to volunteer at the Chamber, please visit our website at www.streetervillechamber.org or call us at 312-664-2560. If you are contemplating opening a new business in Streeterville, please call us — we are eager to assist you in your efforts.
