The Tinley Park - Park District is the community’s leading source for recreation and leisure, providing more than 420 acres of parklands for the enjoyment of residents and visitors, along with a variety of special events and entertainment options that will delight the whole family. The Park District maintains over 50 recreational sites, including the five-acre White Water Canyon Water Park and Spray Ground.
Families can also enjoy a round of mini-golf or a few swings in the batting cages at Tinley Junction Miniature Golf and Batting Cages. A garden model railroad running throughout the mini-golf course will delight young and old alike, and challenge even the most experienced golfers.
When it comes to local arts and culture, you’ll find a variety of options at the Vogt Visual Arts Center (VVAC), and during the summer months, the Tinley Park - Park District provides free family entertainment with movies and concerts in the park. Family-oriented movies and concerts are held at the District’s band shell, located adjacent to the award-winning Tony Bettenhausen Recreation Center.
The Rec Center is a 70,000-square-foot recreational complex featuring three multi-use courts surrounded by a 1/8-mile walking track, a dance studio, a teaching kitchen, an indoor playground, and several program/meeting rooms that are available to the public for rental.

In addition to free concerts and movies, the Park District offers free events throughout the year, such as the Flashlight Easter Egg Hunt, Home Run Derby, Halloween Happenings and Dog’s Day in the Park. Each year, the Park District hosts a free 4th of July celebration that offers residents and visitors a day of live music, children’s activities, bingo, polka dancing and much more, capped off by a fireworks extravaganza that leaves everyone feeling proud to be an American.
Outdoor enthusiasts have several options when it comes to recreation and leisure. The Park District maintains 40 park sites offering playgrounds with modern play structures, picnic shelters, ball fields, basketball courts, tennis courts, soccer fields and plenty of open space. Centennial Park, in the heart of the village, is one of the Park District’s largest parks at 55 acres, and includes a stocked 12.5-acre fishing lake. Also located at Centennial Park is the Extreme Skate Park, featuring a variety of ramps and rails enjoyed by skateboard enthusiasts.
