The community is located near major expressways Interstate 80 and Interstate 57. I-80 connects to other major Interstates including 55, 90 and 94. Interstate 57 takes motorists to and from Chicago or downstate, while Interstate 65 in nearby Indiana offers a direct route to southern states.
New and widened roads make getting around within the village easy too. Pace bus service offers economical public transportation, and residents aged 55 and older can take advantage of a village-run mini-bus running to and from nearby medical facilities. Numerous limousine and taxi cab companies are a phone call away.
The bustling community of about 60,000 has two Metra commuter train stations, making Chicago’s Loop, Joliet and all points in between a matter of minutes away. Metra Commuter Rail Service provides daily service from Tinley Park’s two commuter stations, on Oak Park Avenue and on 80th Avenue. Both offer fast and frequent service to points from as far south as Joliet to Chicago’s LaSalle Street station. The acclaimed Prairie-style Oak Park Avenue station also features a clock tower, a café and the neighboring Zabrocki Plaza with statues, benches and an alluring fountain.
Chicago’s Midway International Airport is about a half-hour drive north, while O’Hare International Airport is 45 minutes away. Gary/Chicago International Airport is a half-hour to the east, and Lansing Municipal Airport, serving business and tourists, is just 20 minutes away.
