Waukegan Regional Airport, located on the northwest side of Waukegan, is a general aviation facility that serves as a “reliever airport” for O’Hare International. The airport has 200 aircraft, including more than 50 corporate jets and approximately 100,000 annual aircraft operations. It is the second-busiest Illinois airport for international arrivals, which is a testament of the global workplace of many of Illinois’s major corporations based at Waukegan Regional. With the 6,000-foot runway, instrument landing system, manned air traffic control tower and even a U.S. customs office that provides clearances for direct international arrivals, Waukegan Regional Airport has reached prominence as a base of operations for “Chicagoland’s Fortune 500 Flyers.”
