Loves Park

“The City With a Heart”

sign

The City of Loves Park is located along the Rock River, immediately north of the city of Rockford. Incorporated in 1947, the city has a long history of providing its citizens with a high quality of life backed by strong political leadership and economic planning. The city’s strong commercial and industrial base insures that no municipal property tax is levied on residents. The population of Loves Park is just under 25,000.

The city was named after Malcolm Love, a Rockford industrialist and civic leader who purchased a 236-acre tract of land along the Rock River in 1901. Love’s property served as a gathering place for social events and eventually became known as Love’s Park. In the early 1900’s, as rail service expanded through the area, residential and commercial development followed.

The City of Loves Park has a vast array of amenities that provide citizens and visitors with entertainment and recreational opportunities.

Some include: boating and fishing on the Rock River and Olson Lake, ice-skating and hockey at Carlson Arctic Ice Arena, soccer at Sports Core II indoor soccer complex, a variety of organized sporting activities at Harlem Community Center, watching a Riverhawks baseball game at Road Ranger Field and taking in NASCAR Racing at Rockford Speedway. In addition, Loves Park is home to Rock Cut State Park, one of the largest state parks in the state of Illinois.
