Zion offers a booming downtown business area with a variety of small, independent stores, as well as many larger retail and commercial operations around the rest of the city. Many industrial firms are located in Zion Industrial Park and Rolling Hills Industrial Park, and further growth is anticipated at Trumpet Technology Park.

A major component of city development efforts is the purchase and rehabilitation of various buildings and properties to prepare them for industrial, commercial and retail use. The city’s three separate TIF districts, expanding utility infrastructure, skilled workforce, and key location between Chicago and Milwaukee, all help to make Zion a growing commercial center.
