Illinois Beach State Park offers swimming, boating, water sports, fishing, camping, hiking and biking trails. The park includes high ridges and dunes, marshlands, forests, and an array of wildlife. In winter, there’s cross-country skiing, snowmobile trails and ice fishing on the inland lakes. Five miles north of Illinois Beach is North Point Marina, with 1,500 slips.

The Zion Park District oversees 19 parks and The North Shore Trail, designed for walkers and bicycles. Area golfers can practice their swings at the Shiloh Park, Shepherd's Crook, or Thunderhawk Golf Courses. The Zion area also has many privately operated recreation facilities, including driving ranges, bowling centers, movie theatres and health and fitness clubs.
