
While Zionsville is famous for its shopping, visitors to the town also enjoy walking or driving through the quaint Victorian-style village. Wonderful chocolate is another distinctive feature of Boone County. Local, state, national and international visitors have enjoyed the fine confections of Boone County’s three local chocolatiers. Donaldson’s Finer Chocolates and David Alan Chocolatier, both in Lebanon, and Ganache Chocolatier in Zionsville offer tours and pure enjoyment for the chocolate lover. Boone County also has several museums and historic buildings that are open for tours. Zionsville offers the P.H. Sullivan Museum and the Munce Art Center. The work of world-renowned artist, Nancy Noel, can be viewed at her gallery and studio, The Sanctuary, located in the heart of Zionsville’s village. Visitors can take a short scenic drive to Thorntown and enjoy the Sugar Creek Art Center, Unzicker Brothers Pottery as well as the Thorntown Heritage Museum. Jamestown is home to the Jamestown Press Museum where visitors can see how the presses rolled for over 100 years. While in Lebanon, visitors can tour the recently restored historic Cragun House at 404 W. Main Street. Lebanon also features the historic Boone County Courthouse, which has the largest one-piece limestone columns in the United States and the second largest glass dome in the state. Each of the courthouse’s eight columns stand 35 feet tall and weigh 30 tons.
Boone County is the host for many annual festivals. In the spring, Zionsville has a Country Market, while in the summer, both Lebanon and Zionsville have weekly Farmers Markets. In the summer, Boone County offers several Fourth of July festivals, which include a 3 on 3 Basketball Tournament, The Indianapolis Symphony Orchestra’s Symphony at Sunset in addition to the Traders’ Point Hunt Charity Horse Show. In the fall, visitors can enjoy the Advance Labor Day Festival, Zionsville hosts its popular Fall Festival and the Village Tour of Homes. In addition, Zionsville offers its annual Brick Street Gallery Walk and Chili Cook-Off located on the Main Street of Zionsville. Lebanon has a Back to the Fifties Festival, and Thorntown offers the Festival of the Turning Leaves. In the winter, Zionsville hosts Christmas in the Village, a popular and spirited weekend of shopping and entertainment. Boone County has festivals and events for everyone, whatever their interests.
