U.S. Highway 421, also known as Michigan Road, is on the east side of the county, and is the oldest commissioned state road in Indiana.
Boone County is served by Indianapolis International Airport, which has major hubs for Federal Express and American TransAir. The area is also home to the Boone County Airport and Indianapolis Executive Airport, a smaller airport in eastern Boone County that services over 40,000 departures and arrivals annually. The airport is a popular location for both local pilots and celebrities to enter and leave the Indianapolis area.
