The median price for homes in Franklin County, according to the Cinergy Economic Development Network, is an affordable $75,000. Many of the existing homes provide classic Italianate, Victorian and country farm houses.

horse stables for scenic rides… Brookville City Park offers a swimming pool for lazy summer days, as well as tennis courts and ball fields with playgrounds and a picnic area overlooking the east fork of the Whitewater River.
The Brookville area is located in an historic and scenic valley formed by the east and west forks of the Whitewater River in eastern Franklin County. The area is filled with beautiful scenery for the more than 2 million sightseers all seasons of the year. For those who love nature, there are hills, valleys and streams throughout the entire county, featuring many species of wildlife. For those who enjoy canoeing, two canoe liveries offer a wide variety of activities. The nearby town of Metamora is an ever-growing 19th century village of more than 100 shops noted for antiques and crafts. Each year, thousands of shoppers and sightseers are lured to Metamora to relive the past. In addition to the shops, you can stroll along the Whitewater Canal and see the only usable wooden aqueduct in the United States, or you can visit the Grist Mill that has been fully restored, is operational and is now a state museum. Or how about a leisure ride on the Ben Franklin III, a horse-drawn canal boat that provides scenic rides along the Whitewater Canal or a trip back in time on the Whitewater Railroad. For the fisherman, water skier, or boating enthusiast, the beauty of the picturesque area of Indiana in enhanced by Brookville Lake. This lake serves not only for flood control, but also as a recreational facility. It is stocked with millions of game fish including walleyes, muskie and bass. No matter whether you enjoy a peaceful ride through the countryside, challenging game of golf or the vigorous exercise of an afternoon horseback ride, Franklin County can accommodate.

Much
of the new construction is located primarily east of the high school,
around the Brookville Lake and surrounding the Brook Hill Golf Course.
New subdivisions are springing up in the southeastern part of the county…all
are a balanced mix of production and custom homes, with the county’s
rolling topography creating dramatic sites and landscaping possibilities
in both categories. Several housing units for senior citizens can be
found throughout the county, along with apartment complexes. Water,
electricity and gas utilities are abundant and competitively priced.
Franklin
County’s appeal is first and foremost its location. Brookville
is located in southeastern Indiana, now known as the 23rd fastest growing
community in the state, using 1996-97 data. Situated on US 52, 60 miles
southeast of Indianapolis; 30 miles northwest of Cincinnati, Ohio; 30
miles south of Richmond, Indiana; 15 miles from Oxford, Ohio (home of
Miami University); 20 miles from Batesville, Indiana; the county also
offers State Road 101, 252 to provide easy access throughout the county.
I-74 within the county gives this area a fast, direct access to major
Midwest cities.

who prefer a smoother journey hop aboard the Whitewater Valley Rail
Road picturesque bright red train that runs between Connersville and
Metamora at various times during the tourist season. Sports lovers tee
off at the five area golf courses. Families gravitate toward Franklin
County Park’s 200 acres for overnight camping adventures as well
as family reunions, church picnics or a relaxing
afternoon for the tots at the playground equipment.

of the water activities center around Brookville Lake (designed, built
and operated by the Louisville District of the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers)
