Brownsburg
is governed by a five-member Town Council, a Town Manager, an Advisory
Plan Commission, a Board of Zoning Appeals and a Park and Recreation Board.
The
Brownsburg Police Department has its own commission and is run by a chief
who directs a 25-member force with 10 reserve officers. A full-time fire
chief coordinates 42 career and 20 reserve firefighters. Both the police
and Brownsburg Fire Territory share a new downtown building. The Fire
Territory also has a station on the north side of their service area.
The Brownsburg Public library, originally built
in 1981, has recently doubled in size to respond to the ever-growing number
of patrons from Brownsburg and the surrounding areas. The library works
hard to keep pace with the world of technology by installing research
and training computers.
