Crawfordsville and Montgomery County offer all the amenities of small-town living in western Indiana as well as convenient access to larger cities: Indianapolis is just 45 miles east, Lafayette 27 miles north, Chicago, 165 miles north, and Louisville, Kentucky is 151 miles south. Several U.S. highways cross the area: U.S. 231, State Road 32 and I-74, all with several convenient exchanges. An airport just outside of Crawfordsville provides air service. Railroad and motor freight carriers also service the county commercially. Its prime location near major commerce and tourist markets in central Indiana coupled with an excellent transportation infrastructure makes Crawfordsville especially attractive to new businesses and industry.

More than 15,000 people live in Crawfordsville, 37,000 in Montgomery County according to 2000 census surveys.
