Blanton Woods Nature Park, a gift from a local family in 1993, consists of 53 acres of pristine woodland. The west fork of White Lick Creek meanders throughout the park. Nature enthusiasts may choose from several hiking trails. A prairie grass meadow is to be planted with a variety of native wildflowers, and plans are also underway to link Blanton Woods and Ellis Park via a greenway walk trail. Twin Bridges Golf Club, located at 1001 Cartersburg Road, received a 3.5 star rating from Golf Digest Magazine. The Twin Bridges course is one of only 27 Audobon Society "signature" courses in the United States, awarded for preservation of natural habitats. The Blanton House
is situated on 19 acres of manicured gardens and natural woodlands. The
facility is available to rent for weddings, receptions, parties, retreats,
etc. The natural beauty of the adjoining 60 acres of parkland known as
Blanton Woods is home to a variety of native plants and wildlife. The
serene setting of the estate makes it a perfect conference and retreat
center for corporations wanting to "get away from it all". Contact
the Danville Chamber of Commerce or the Park Superintendent for more information
and rental fees. Ellis Park is Danvilles oldest and most active recreational area. Its latest land acquisition included an historic 10,000-square-foot house that will be restored to serve as a conference and retreat center.
