Eighteen beautiful holes of golf await you at the Country Oaks Golf Course near Montgomery, where a PGA pro can help you polish that nine-iron approach stroke. The county boasts several campgrounds including outstanding facilities at West Boggs Lake and the Glendale Fish and Wildlife Area. Bass fishermen know Glendale as a hidden treasure, which also features great hiking trails over rolling land sculpted by melting ancient glaciers. Canoeing, water-skiing, boating and other aquatic pleasures are also ample throughout the county.
Ready for a round of tennis? Plenty of outdoor activities are available at the Henry R. Gwaltney Sports Complex west of Washington, and expansive playgrounds for children can be found at East Side Park and other facilities around the county.
Dedicated bicycle routes serve up two-wheel tours of the region, and the opportunities for hunting of all types remain near-legend. Want to hit a first-run movie or two? Check out the Indiana Theater in downtown Washington, which is a restored former opera house.
If you consider gardening a recreational pastime, Daviess County is the place for you with its numerous garden shops and nurseries offering unique and home-grown varieties of perennials, roses and shrubbery. Bird-watching is another popular pastime, as Daviess County represents a major migratory point for many colorful species of fowl.
