DeKalb County and its surrounding areas feature an abundance of arts and entertainment for all to enjoy, providing a broad range of cultural experiences and leisure activities.
For those interested in architectural design, the Auburn County Courthouse, which was built in 1911, is a must-see. The building is considered Modern Ionic Greek and is in a parallelogram shape. The structure’s focal point is a dome capped with Florentine Art Glass, which is illuminated via a skylight during the day and 60 lights at night.
Sechler’s Pickles offers tours showcasing more than 85 years of family pickle processing and over 39 varieties of pickles. Gifts, products and recipes are just some of the things visitors find at the factory or any of the Sechler’s stores. Additionally, Sechler’s Pickles hosts a yearly pickle festival featuring parades, fireworks and more.
Nearby Fort Wayne has something for everyone. Just a few of the many places to visit are the Children’s Zoo, Botanical Conservatory, Lincoln Museum and Science Central. There are also several art venues, more museums and touring Broadway shows. Seasonal sports events are hosted by the Fort Wayne Komets hockey team and the Fort Wayne Wizards baseball team.
Of course, one mustn’t forget the numerous automotive and transportation museums in DeKalb. World War II vehicles, vintage automobiles, aircraft history and technology are all presented for the public’s education and enjoyment.

One of the busiest places in Butler, the library is used by people of all ages who live in Butler and in the surrounding communities. Butler Public Library is much more than a building with lots of bookshelves—it is a library and a community center.
Additional libraries in DeKalb County include Eckhart Public Library, Garrett Public Library and Waterloo Grant Township Public Library. All offer a plethora of programs, services and resources to benefit the community.
