Over 100 years old and going strong, the Auburn Butler Chamber Partnership maintains its unwavering support toward the continued growth and progress of DeKalb County.

The DeKalb County Economic Development Partnership (DCEDP) is composed of the communities of Ashley, Auburn, Butler, Corunna, Garrett, Hamilton, St. Joe and Waterloo. The mission of DCEDP is to “improve the quality of life for the citizens of DeKalb County through enhanced employment opportunities resulting from the responsible growth of business and industry.”
The partnership’s vision includes maintaining and improving schools, enhancing Main Street programs and diversifying development throughout the county. DCEDP is supportive of existing businesses and assists them with expansion plans. Some of these include the growth of TI Automotive, Alpha 3, Heidtman Steel, Paragon Steel and Noble International.

DCEDP points out that DeKalb County is highly marketable, with attributes businesses will find appealing. In addition to being ideally located, Indiana has one of the lowest business costs in the country along with the lowest Workers’ Compensation rate and the lowest Unemployment Insurance in the Midwest. Transportation is outstanding, with Interstate 69 running north and south of DeKalb County and U.S. 6 and State Road 8 running east and west.

The county is also in close proximity to airports and rail systems. Furthermore, several local and state incentives are available.
Many companies in the area are suppliers to the automotive industry. There are also many manufacturers in the areas of bio-medics, electronics, packaging, extruded plastics, aluminum and iron castings, steel production, metal fabrication, recreational vehicles, parcel shipping and delivery, agricultural chemical and seed, hydraulic fittings and accessories, mill work, food products machinery and manufactured homes.

Major manufacturing companies in the region include Alcoa Automotive, Citation Corporation, Cooper Standard Automotive, Eaton Corporation, Guardian Automotive, Metal Technologies, Rieke Corporation, Steel Dynamics, Therma-Tru Corporation, TI Automotive Systems, Tower Automotive, Tri-Wall, Vulcraft Metal Technologies, and Wal-Mart Distribution.
