graphicLet your hair down and get rid of the tie when you visit Putnam County. Thought of as one of Indiana’s "Hidden Treasures", you will find many things to see and do for the entire family. Visit the historical Greencastle downtown and view the stately, statuesque architectures from a time gone by. Still standing with pride, these buildings are the heritage of the town. See the site of John Dillinger’s most lucrative bank robbery, without a shot being fired. Or try to visualize the hustle and bustle of the residents as they visited Eli Lilly’s first pharmaceutical store. Or look towards the sky as the nation’s only publicly displayed WWII V-1 Vengeance Buzz Bomb takes to the wind while standing high on its V-shaped pedestal. Brought to the county of Putnam in 1948, it is sure to make you reflect on a time from the past.

Putnam County is also home to the ever-popular covered bridges. Back in 1937, Putnam County boasted of 25 bridges. Today there are nine remaining, all still in use. With their intricate designs from the inside beams to the entrance to the bridges, they are truly each unique in their own right.

The Putnam County Convention & Visitor Bureau, located in the heart of "COVERED BRIDGE COUNTRY", provides tourist information to those wishing to visit. The Bureau provides hotel, restaurant, and attraction brochures. Brochures are available in the Partnership Center. Festivals, fun and Hoosier hospitality at its best can be found in Putnam County.graphic For information, call 1-800-829-4639.
