The Old Log Jail

graphicThe second jail was built in 1852 and served as the county jail until 1871. It has nails pounded into the upstairs cell walls to prevent prisoners from sawing their way out. Once standing behind the courthouse, this jail has been moved twice and now sits in Riley Park. It now serves as a museum for the Hancock County Historical Society.
