graphicDecatur County has two school systems – Greensburg Community School Corporation and Decatur County School Corporation – that offer six public elementary schools, three junior high schools and three senior high schools, all of which offer commendable student-teacher ratios. Both schools systems rank well above the state average for ISTEP total battery scores, and over 66 percent of high school grads go on to college or other higher learning.

A strong high school agricultural curriculum provides excellent preparation for the communities’ agri-business interests. Technical prep and college prep paths are also emphasized. Parochial school choices provide another option for parents interested in private elementary schooling; the age requirement to start kindergarten at any of these facilities is 5 years old by June 1.

Extracurricular sports opportunities include volleyball, tennis, track, soccer, swimming, football, basketball, baseball, softball, golf, wrestling and gymnastics.graphic
