graphicgraphicDistance education for college credit, in either degree or non-degree programs, is an added benefit for area residents. The institutions who participate in providing distance learning through the Indiana Partnership for Statewide Education (IPSE) include Ball State University, some of the Independent Colleges of Indiana, Indiana State University, Indiana University, Ivy Tech State College, Purdue University, University of Southern Indiana, and Vincennes University. Students can take single courses for credit or earn associate’s, bachelor’s or master’s degrees in several fields of study.

Courses are offered in a variety of ways including traditional face-to-face classes, satellite delivery with "live" interaction from the campus classroom, videotape, CD-ROM, the Internet and through independent study. An area learning center, located in the Greensburg Community High School and administered by the College Cooperative Southeast, provides a local "campus" environment for taking courses from the partnership institutions. The Greensburg Public Library also provides space for distance education courses.

For students who prefer the more traditional method of on-campus higher education, several choices of select schools are nearby. Ball State University, Butler University, Franklin College, Hanover College, Indiana University and some Indiana University-Purdue University campuses are all within a 60-mile radius.
