Religion and denominations are varied within Decatur County. There are many places to worship within town borders or a few minute’s drive away.

Most importantly, Decatur County citizens convert their spiritual roots into specific actions. Here, people work together cheerfully to better their communities – in recent years, we’ve simultaneously raised $5 million to build a new YMCA and a day-care facility. The congregations’ fish fries, chili suppers, and pitch-ins that crowd the social calendar offer more than a convenient way to raise these funds. These lively gatherings extend a welcome mat for new residents to get to know the community’s fabric and find their place in giving. Of course, visitors may drop in, too, and expect the same welcoming handshake and smile.
