Full of Cultural Attractions

A lively and well-rounded selection of cultural attractions keeps LaPorte bustling.

The LaPorte County Symphony Orchestra concert season has included Italian opera, holiday pops concerts, chamber music, an evening of music dedicated to Great Britain, Teutonic music, and showboat and show tunes. The popular LaPorte Municipal Band also offers a range of music at its summer concerts held in Fox Memorial Park.

The LaPorte Little Theater Club has been performing comedies, mysteries, musicals and dramas for more than 75 years. Productions are presented weekend evenings in a historic former church.

The LaPorte County Historical Society Museum’s collection features artifacts of local history and the W.A. Jones gun collection – one of the largest in the country. The Kesling Automobile collection is on loan for visitor enjoyment.

Several annual festivals bring LaPorte families together for fun and entertainment. These festivals include: The Maple City Blues Fest, LaPorte’s Fourth of July celebration, the LaPorte County Fair (the oldest county fair in the state), Door Village Harvest Fest, the Sunflower Fair, Apple Fest and Winterfest. LaPorte is host to numerous antique shows throughout the year as well.

For gaming enthusiasts, the Blue Chip Casino is just a short drive to Michigan City. It has developed into a visitor’s destination with a blues club, hotel and entertainment stage.
