Arts and Entertainment

A lively and well-rounded selection of cultural attractions keeps La Porte bustling. The La Porte County Symphony Orchestra concert season has included Italian opera, holiday pops concerts, chamber music, an evening of music dedicated to Great Britain, Teutonic music, and showboat and show tunes. The popular La Porte City Band also offers a range of music at its summer concerts held in Fox Memorial Park.

The La Porte Little Theater Club has been performing comedies, mysteries, musicals and dramas for more than 75 years. Productions are presented weekend evenings in a historic former church.

The La Porte County Historical Society Museum’s collection features artifacts of local history and the W.A. Jones gun collection – one of the largest in the country. The Kesling Automobile collection is on loan for visitor enjoyment.

Several annual festivals bring La Porte families together for fun and entertainment. These festivals include: The La Porte County Blues Fest, La Porte’s Fourth of July celebration, the La Porte County Fair (the oldest county fair in the state), Door Village Harvest Fest, the Sunflower Fair, Apple Fest and Winterfest.

For gaming enthusiasts, the Blue Chip Casino is just a short drive to Michigan City. It has developed into a visitor’s destination with a blues club, hotel and entertainment stage.
