St. Anthony Memorial Health Centers of Michigan City provides health care "the way it should be." The two-campus health care system, with a 310-bed capacity, has more than 200 physicians on staff (most board-certified), 844 employees and 170 volunteers. The hospital serves LaPorte and Porter counties in Indiana and Berrien County in Michigan.

The St. Anthony Memorial campus at 301 W. Homer St. has acute care facilities, surgery, 24-hour emergency and urgent care, obstetrics with six Labor-Delivery-Recovery-Postpartum rooms and epidurals available 24 hours a day, Transitional Care, Rehabilitation, Imaging Department with fixed-base MRI unit, occupational medicine, cardiac, nuclear, and therapy services.

Outpatient services include a 13-bed, same-day Outpatient Surgery Center, Wound Care Center, Diabetes Center, endocrinology services, Pain Center, the Michiana Cancer Treatment Center, and a full line of home health care services, including hospice. A Medical Arts Center is adjacent to the hospital. Inpatient and intensive outpatient behavioral medicine also are offered.

Recent significant investments in technology, services and training, and future projects make St. Anthony Memorial newer, stronger and looking ahead. A $40 million renovation of the St. Anthony campus adds a patient tower with 60-90 private rooms, new emergency area, and renovated facilities and grounds. Future services under development include a comprehensive Breast Health Center. St. Anthony Memorial Health Centers contracts with more than 20 local, regional and national managed-care agencies.

The Medical Group is based in Michigan City has more than 50 physicians representing primary care and more than 20 specialties. A variety of health care services is available at the Group’s main location, 1225 E. Coolspring Ave., including the Urgent Care Center; Outpatient Surgery, X-Ray and Laboratory, Occupational Medicine, Optical Shop, Pharmacy and Women’s Health Center.

The Woodland Healthcare SurgiCenter, located near US 421 and I-94, provides a high-quality, cost-effective solution to elective surgery needs and is among the broad range of other medical, dental and specialty clinics serving Michigan City area citizens.

The SurgiCenter offers the latest technology, with more than 60 staff specialists in ophthalmology; ear, nose and throat; urology; podiatry; general surgery; pain medicine; anesthesiology; plastic and cosmetic surgery; gynecology; orthopedics; gastroenterology; dental/oral surgery; and laser surgery.

In addition to the major health care providers, local clinics also offer extensive medical services: Med Watch, Franklin Clinic and Walters Clinic. Four nursing homes and a 42-apartment assisted-living residence provide excellent service and care for the elderly. Fifteen family care physicians and 47 dentists round out the local health care community.
