Shopping

graphicFor those who enjoy a real shopping adventure, Michigan City has it all.

Dozens of retail establishments throughout the city, from major department stores to quaint specialty shops, factory outlets to trendy fashion boutiques, offer a shopping culture as diverse as it is accessible. Bus lines offer quick service to many venues while others are but a short drive or comfortable stroll away. There are two major shopping areas plus a number of plazas to meet shoppers’ needs. The Marquette Mall, just off of U.S. 20 and 421 on the south side, has three major department stores and 56 specialty shops.

Near downtown Michigan City, locals and visitors alike delight in the bargains they find at Lighthouse Place Outlet Center, at Sixth and Wabash Streets. Shoppers will find more than 120 upscale outlet stores and specialty shops in a pleasant, village-like setting. From the growing residential area at the south to the beach, Michigan City’s numerous shopping sites offer residents and visitors variety along with easy access. For a trip down memory lane or to find that special something to give a room the right touch, The Antique Market’s 85 dealers offer a world of sentimental heirlooms, objets d’art and curios of yesteryear. The May-through-October, Saturday morning Farmer’s Market offers fresh produce and hand-crafted treasures.
