At the first blush of summer, the grand array of seasonal businesses surrounding Lake Shafer and Lake Freeman open. Resorts, motels, hotels, campgrounds, rental cottages, bait shops, boat rentals, marinas and restaurants warmly welcome the summer season as does Indiana Beach. Year-round fishing draws visitors to our lakes.

Built on the shores of Lake Shafer, Indiana Beach is located only miles from downtown Monticello. Indiana Beach Amusement Park includes Indiana Beach Campground and Yogi Bear’s Jellystone Park Camp Resort. In addition to thrilling rides, Indiana Beach offers unique shops, great eateries, and water sports.

For sightseeing on Lake Freeman, visitors enjoy the Madam Carroll, the largest licensed Coast Guard- approved inland water craft in the State of Indiana. Each July, the Madam Carroll leads a Patriotic Boat Parade honoring America’s military personnel.

Golfers enjoy challenges offered by several golf courses in the area, including two championship courses—Tippecanoe Country Club and Pine View Golf Course. Pine View Golf Resort is home to the Indiana Golf Academy.

Part of Indiana’s growing agri-tourism industry, Whyte Horse Winery, located south of Monticello, hosts special events in addition to offering superb wine tasting experiences.

Greater Monticello boasts a variety of great dining options. Wherever you look, whatever your interest, there’s plenty of family fun to be found in the greater Monticello area in any season. Explore Monticello!
