has it all. Choose your pleasure, whether it's Shelbyville's Fiddler's
Three for steaks and seafood or Hamilton House and its Victorian setting
downtown. Morristown diners visit the Kopper Kettle Inn or the Bluebird
Restaurant. The Boggstown Inn is a rural establishment with a cabaret
theme. From breakfast to a late night snack, a variety of locally owned
restaurants will please your pallet.
Shelby Community Theatre provides a historic setting
for entertainment in downtown Shelbyville. Local talent voluntarily
entertains area residents and visitors with works by noted playwrights.
The Shelby County Fair hosts over 100,000 visitors annually at the county
fairgrounds while local festivals delight crowds with entertainment
on evenings and weekends. A quick drive to downtown Indianapolis allows
Shelby County residents to enjoy the arts, nightclubs, dining, and professional
sports team. With all to see and do, it's no wonder that 85 percent

Shelby
County has four school districts - Shelbyville Central, Northwestern
Consolidated, Shelby Eastern and Southwestern. The curriculum choices
for students are extensive. In addition, Blue River Career Center offers
college programs and technical training to secondary and post-secondary
students. The total expenditure per student exceeds $4,000 annually
in the county, and the teacher-student ratio is 1:18. Reports indicate
the highest percentage of ninth graders consistently earn A's and B's,
and an overwhelming majority of high school students continue on to
various higher education programs. Shelby County is working to provide
one of the first community colleges in Indiana to promote higher education
and lifelong learning on the local level. A number of colleges and university
programs are located in the county while several more are located within
a short commute of the area.

William S. Major Hospital is an 89-bed facility located
in Shelbyville. Recognized for its state-of-the-art facilities and experienced
staff, Major Hospital meets Shelby County's healthcare needs. It specializes
in services such as: the organ bank, pediatrics, magnetic resonance,
computerized tomography, neo-natal surgery, speech pathology, emergency
services and hospice. In addition, the hospital's Center for Women's
Health receives commendations for its resources and devoted personnel.
Shelby County also offers a number of retirement
living centers and nursing homes including a facility dedicated to children
with certain disabilities.
