graphicSpirituality provides a cornerstone for Spencer County residents; where nearly every Christian denomination is represented.

St. Meinrad in particular stands as a beacon to the faithful, who often visit the grounds of the St. Meinrad Archabbey, home to 135 Benedictine monks. The monks gather four times daily to pray - visitors are welcome to join. The Archabbey is accustomed to providing spiritual retreats to individuals and groups. The nearby Monte Cassino, a shrine to the Blessed Virgin Mary, has been credited since its birth in 1857 to healings and cures for seekers.
During the summer and early fall months, many Spencer County churches hold old fashioned church socials for their own congregations as well as other residents and neighboring visitors. Delicious delights, horseshoe pitches, bingo games and homemade ice cream can be found, along with deep camaraderie for generations of church-goers.
