South Bend residents should call South Bend Animal Control. Pet licenses are valid for one year and expire on December 31. All pets (dogs and cats) must be leashed when off their owners' property. DRIVER LICENSING AND REGISTRATION

New residents may obtain an Indiana driver's license by surrendering their out-of-state license, presenting two forms of identification, taking a written exam and passing the vision screening. Booklets are available to study for the written exam. New residents must obtain an Indiana driver's license within 60 days of establishing residency. There is a fee and the license is valid for four years.

New residents must also obtain an Indiana title and license plates within 60 days of establishing residency. An automobile excise tax is charged annually based on the car's year, make, model and original price. Call the nearest license bureau or visit www.ai.org/bmv to determine what paperwork is required to register and title your car in Indiana.
