We have excellent educational opportunities through the public and parochial schools, a brand new middle school, Des Moines Area Community College – Boone Campus, and Iowa State University is nearby in Ames. The Chamber of Commerce is active in promoting the community and businesses. Boone has an excellent library, many youth programs, including the Boone National Little League, which provides baseball and softball programs for over 700 youths each year.
McHose Park Aquatic Center is open seasonally for lessons, swim teams, and a water slide. The YMCA provides a sparkling facility to meet the needs of our physically active citizens and guests. The Boone County Hospital recently opened a new, state-of-the-art addition to better serve the community and the over 30 physicians who practice there.
We have progressive governments for both the city and county that will work to assist businesses interested in locating in our area. An active economic development group works with the local government to attract these new businesses. This partnership has increased the number of jobs in Boone by over 500 in the past five years and the tax base has increased by over $30 million.
Our community continues to grow with the new commercial development on the southeast edge of town. New golf courses with housing developments associated with them have developed in the past few years. New housing developments have helped meet the needs of our growing population and offer beautiful Boone real estate options.
