Buena Vista County offers opportunities for one to explore the colorful history of its many small communities. The county towns offer history and lore in tours of their local historic sites. There are numerous museums, libraries and art galleries, community theatre, summer concerts in a park and the Area Arts Council’s schedule of productions through the year. Area schools are proud of their state-rated musical groups, tap, speech contestants, and atheltic teams who bring home state titles.

In addition to a variety of movie theaters and museums, the county communities have access to a multitude of programs available at Buena Vista University, through the school’s Cultural Events Series and the Siebens American Heritage Lecture Series.
