Storm Lake is home to Iowa Central Community College, and Buena Vista University, one of the leading private four-year colleges in the Midwest. The university "forum" boasts 100,000-square-feet of underground classrooms, a dining facility, auditorium and meeting area. BVU calls itself the first truly "wireless community" in the nation. Several of the communities offer unique situations in their school systems.

There are a variety of academically challenging curriculum designed to foster independent study and learning in a small-class atmosphere. Many extracurricular opportunities help to provide a well-rounded education for the students.
