When you log on to
www.councilbluffsiowa.com,
you may notice a drastic change - a flash back to our past. Although we're
moving forward as a community, we decided to showcase our heritage by
using our Streetscape pattern - which incorporates historical elements
into our downtown scheme.
Setting our future's
foundation, the "bricks" of our past (embedded throughout the
site) have truly paved the way for our progress.
Our claim, "Council
Bluffs - Iowa's Leading Edge," holds true today as did our stake
as a major outpost on the Western Frontier.
Packed
with historical information, the entire layout is filled with descriptive,
pop-up icons from our past, making it fun for browsers to further explore
our site.
More
informational, interactive and artful, the site includes some of the latest
elements in web design.
For easier navigation,
the contents have been divided into four main areas: Visitor Information,
Chamber of Commerce, Economic Development and Community Information.
Some of the new features
include:
- A What's New section,
highlighting events such as Winterfest, Renaissance Faire of the Midlands
and other on-going community projects and developments.
- A media center,
where press releases will be posted and archived. Users will also be
able to download various photos of Council Bluffs, our new logo and,
as a free bonus, new screen savers.
- An updated calendar
section, highlighted by seasonal photographs, listing both Chamber and
community events. In addition, browsers will be able to sign up and
post their own events on-line.
- A series of 360-degree
tours of Council Bluffs, including the Historic Gen. Dodge House, Winterfest's
Winter Wonderland of Lights, the city's new library and the Squirrel
Cage Jail.
- A postcard section,
allowing users to send personalized postcards from Council Bluffs.
- A campaign center,
dedicated to promoting Council Bluffs, our new slogan, logo and image
campaign.
- Lodging, shopping,
attractions and various points of interest.
- An on-line, request-for-proposal
section for convention and meeting planners.
- Pre-formed tour
itineraries of the Council Bluffs area.
- Prospective businesses
looking to locate in Council Bluffs can check out the economic development
section to learn why Council Bluffs is on the "leading edge" of business.
Throughout the section
they can view and download up-to-date business information, including:
- Available industrial
land and buildings.
- Current work force
and demographic data.
- Council Bluffs'
business location advantages.
- Business assistance
and incentives overview.
